Scott County officials preparing to accept bids for new roof

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

BENTON -- Scott County will soon be accepting proposals to rebuild the roof over the south wing of the Scott County Courthouse.

"The prebid meeting will be April 9," Jamie Burger, presiding county commissioner, said during the regular County Commission meeting Tuesday.

Commissioners agreed to make attending the prebid meeting mandatory for a vendor to be considered for the contract.

Bids will be opened April 23, according to Burger.

Commissioners set June 3 at the tentative start date for the roof work. Burger said that should help the project "get out of the weather just a bit."

The contract will require the repairs to be completed within 45 days of the start date.

In other business during Tuesday's meeting:

* Tom Beardslee, emergency management director for the county, presented commissioners with the repair estimate for the damage done to the county emergency management truck in a recent traffic accident.

The other motorist was at fault, according to county officials. The other motorist's insurance will pay for the damage.
