POPLAR BLUFF -- The Sikeston Bulldogs golf team finished fifth at the Poplar Bluff Invitational tournament Monday at Westwood Hills Country Club in Poplar Bluff.

Sikeston scored a 326 and was led by Gabe Wheeler's 74.

Wheeler tied for third individually while Kirk Hoggatt tied for 10th with a 79.

There were a total of 14 teams involved with a field of 70 golfers.

PERRYVILLE -- The East Prairie Eagles fell 5-4 to St. Vincent Monday after surrendering a pair of seventh inning runs.

East Prairie took a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth thanks to a three-run rally. But the Indians' seventh inning heroics allowed them to pull off the comeback in walk-off fashion.

Risco 24, Southland 5

SOUTHLAND -- The Risco Tigers routed Southland Monday 24-5.

The Tigers (6-5) pounded 29 hits and scored 13 runs in the seventh inning to put the game away.

Matt Cumins, who has reached base 20 of his last 21 times, picked up the win on the mound.

NMCC 9, Dexter 1

NEW MADRID -- The New Madrid County Central Lady Eagles defeated the visiting Dexter Lady Bearcats 9-1 on Monday.

NMCC scored three runs in the second frame to take the lead before rallying for four runs in the fourth and another two runs in the sixth.

Michaela Townsend picked up the win with a seven-inning, complete game effort where she allowed three hits and two walks while striking out four.
