Scott County man arrested on sex-related charges

BENTON -- A Scott County man has been arrested on multiple sex-related charges.

Robert Overbey, 45, of Scott City is charged with nine counts of statutory sodomy in the first degree and three counts of child molestation in the first degree.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said his office received a report from a local school regarding a student being the possible victim of sexual abuse. An investigation revealed that Overbey allegedly had sexual contact with the victim in November 2012. According to the investigation, the alleged incidents occurred at Overbey's residence in the rural Scott City area.

Overbey remains in the Scott County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
