Residents will be out in force to help fight disease

SIKESTON -- Local residents will be out in full force this weekend in an overnight fight against cancer during the 18th annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Scott County.

The 12-hour event is a celebration of the lives of hundreds of local residents who have survived cancer, while offering the hope of finding a cure, noted Kevin McCord, co-chair of Scott County's Relay. Some 300 participants are hoping to raise $60,000 this year to benefit the American Cancer Society.
