CHARLESTON -- Mississippi County's chief law enforcement officers wants two things from emergency dispatchers: notification and communication.
Protocol was not followed in the recovery of the victim of a fatal accident, Sheriff Keith Moore said during Thursday's County Commission meeting.
Oscar Shannon, 64, of Sikeston was pronounced dead by the county coroner at 2 p.m. Monday at Upper Big Lake where he was reportedly fishing.
Moore said dispatchers for county 911 at Charleston failed to call the Sheriff's Department in addition to dispatching the ambulance service although the county rescue squad and other law enforcement agencies were soon contacted for support.
