Summer road work

Steam rises from hot asphalt on Highway 61 as crews with Pace Construction of St. Louis perform pavement repairs and asphalt overlay Monday afternoon. The work, which began early in July at the I-55 interchange at New Madrid, will continue to Route 60 in Sikeston. The project should be completed by the end of August. Drivers are urged to use caution in the construction area, which has reduced the roadway to one-lane.
