Missing man's body found in river

NEW MADRID - A three-week search ended Thursday evening when a tugboat operator spotted the body of a missing Matthews man.

At 5 p.m. Thursday, a tug boat operator with Magnolia Marine Transport notified authorities he had discovered a body in the Mississippi River near Bunge Grain at Portageville, according to a news release from New Madrid County Coroner George DeLisle.

The body was identified as that of 27-year-old Christopher Allan Wescoat.
