Dexter's early lead not enough against Potosi
POTOSI -- An early lead slipped away from the Dexter Bearcats Thursday as they eventually fell to Potosi 33-13 during the quarterfinals of the Class 3, District 1 tournament.
A 63-yard pass from Peyton Pollock to D.J. Dowdy tied the game at 6-6 before two minutes had ticked off the opening clock. Dylan Bazarian recovered a fumble in the end zone to give Dexter a 13-6 edge after the first quarter.
Potosi, however, scored 27 unanswered points throughout the second and third quarters to take command.
Pollock threw for 224 yards on 12 of 29 passing. He also threw three interceptions. Dowdy caught five passes for 106 yards.
Dexter finishes the season 2-8. Potosi (6-4) will play Ste. Genevieve in the district semifinals Wednesday.
