BENTON -- Checking with Scott County's flood plain official can save county residents from some disappointment and wasted time.

Tom Beardslee, county flood plain administrator, received an inquiry from a county resident trying to get his property out of one of the new areas designated as a flood zone.

Jerry Tomlinson has been in contact with the State Emergency Management Agency regarding property he owns in Woodhaven which is located south of Blodgett and east of State Highway H, according to Beardslee.

Beardslee said he was prepared to advise Tomlinson during Tuesday's County Commission meeting that his application for an Out As Shown Letter of Map Amendment would probably not get him the results hoped for.
