DELTA -- Kicking off their season on Tuesday the East Prairie Eagles routed the Delta Bobcats 68-23.

East Prairie used a strong 18-5 start to distance themselves from the Bobcats before going into the half up 30-17. By outscoring Delta 38-6 in the second half the Eagles locked up the win.

Leading the way for East Prairie was Damion Tipler with a game-high 19 points while Dustin Bryars and Seth Bays contributed 16 and 14 points respectively.

Next up, East Prairie (1-0) will Portageville Friday, Dec. 6.

Woodland 86, Charleston 82

MARBLE HILL -- Unable to overcome a strong start by Woodland the Charleston Lady Bluejays opened their season with a 86-82 loss on the road.

The Lady Cardinals opened up a 23-17 lead entering the second quarter before a Lady Bluejays comeback closed them within 44-43. By outscoring Charleston 19-4 in the third quarter Woodland built their lead back up to six and were able to hold off a 25-23 rally by Charleston in the fourth.

Woodland's Josie Long won a shootout with Lady Bluejays junior Sierra Frazier by scoring a game-high 38 points to Frazier's 34.

Cheyenne Randle added another 19 points to Charleston's effort and Shelby Sawyer pitched in 18 points for Woodland.

Charleston (0-1) will stay on the road when they play East Prairie on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

ORAN (SMNS) -- The Bravettes jumped out to a 33-19 lead at halftime, but strong play by the Eagles in the second half allowed Oran to squeeze out the win at home.

Chrissie Sauceda led Oran (1-0) with 18 points, including four 3-pointers.

Mikaela Blissett scored a game-high 24 points for Scott County Central (0-1).
