Abortion is heartless

In the United States of America - a nation which has long boasted of being a Christian nation - we have our versions of baby ponds. They are not in the center of town where passersby can see them but are located in respectable doctors' offices, tax supported hospitals, abortion clinics operated by Planned Parenthood. These babies are brutally destroyed in places where people cannot see how cruel and heartless abortion really is. They are cut up or burned in an incinerator or flushed down the drain. The words of the prophet Jeremiah are appropriate in reference to baby killers. "Were they not at all ashamed, neither could they blush; therefore shall they fall among them that fall in the time of their visitation, they shall be cast down, says the Lord." (Jer. 8:12). Abortion providers and supporters become angry when abortion and other forms of child abuse are shown to belong in the same category. Abortion is the ultimate form of child abuse. It kills millions of unborn babies and the consciences of our fellow citizens. The nation's attention was on Union, S.C., in the fall of 1994 when Susan Smith strapped her children into the back of her car and rolled it into the river. It caused millions to question the concept of motherly love. She used a lake for her boys' baby pond. What is the difference in her and the mother who agrees to have her baby cut into little pieces and sucked out of her body? In old testament times, people offered their children up to pagan gods. Americans are now offering their babies to the gods of convenience, greed, irresponsibility, sexual liberation and comfort. Millions of babies have been destroyed since the Roe vs. Wade decision in 1973. Do you ever wonder if any of the Supreme Court justices ever stay awake at night worrying about the irreparable damage they have done to families, churches, the nation and the babies who might have someday been some of America's finest citizens? The second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence begins, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." The majority of people apparently no longer believe these sentiments. If parents do not want their children, they are permitted by the Supreme Court, not by the United States Constitution or Declaration of Independence, to put their babies to death by burning them with a saline solution or cutting them into little pieces and sucking them out of the mother's body or removing their brains so they can be extracted from the mother's body. Does the Supreme Court not realize, or does it not matter, that they have allowed millions of wage earners to be killed? Social Security will either become unavailable - and we have already been told that - for future generations or the surviving families will be taxed beyond their ability to pay. Why aren't our governmental leaders, from the president to local leaders, protecting our most precious creatures in the universe? America has become so desensitized that they are not disturbed too much when young couples kill the babies they don't want. I hope someday soon every person will become so horrified about abortion that they will rise up against it and save these precious babies from murder.
