By late afternoon Thursday, efforts were under way to repair the 200 block of Main Street in Portageville where a vehicle traveled along the sidewalk, finally crashing into the Sugar and Spice Daycare. Two of the 10 children at the daycare received minor lacerations. The children and the driver were taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. PORTAGEVILLE -- Two children received minor injuries after a vehicle struck their daycare building Thursday afternoon in Portageville.

The accident occurred about 1:30 p.m. after a vehicle crashed into a daycare on Main Street, according to the Portageville Police Department.

Portageville Police Chief Ronnie Adams identified the vehicle's driver as Buster Hampton. According to Adams, Hampton was driving westbound on Main Street, when his vehicle went up on the sidewalk, striking several awning supports, then hitting the front window of Sugar and Spice Daycare.

There were 10 children and three adults inside the daycare at the time.

Two children were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Hampton was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, Adams said.
