On soapbox about Bandstand

I would like to speakout in regards to the picture in the paper about the American Legion Square, downtown Sikeston. To me, this sure don't look like our bandstand. I wish they would leave the bandstand just like it is. It might need some repair, but this picture here, it sure don't look nothing like the Sikeston American Legion Bandstand. I just pray that they will never have that bandstand changed in downtown Sikeston. To me there would be no other look like this. This is an historical thing and I wish they would leave it the way it is.

Are you perhaps referring to the gazebo in Malone Park? This is a bandstand that will be erected in downtown Legion Square, in the park next to the Depot.

We are all responsible

This is a call to active citizenship. Our president, a minister of the gospel in 1881, said the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless and corrupt it's because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave and pure, it's because the people demand these high qualities. If the next 100 years do not find us a great nation, it will be because the ones that represent the enterprise, culture and morality of our nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.

Two phones, no car

I'm sort of elderly and recently have lost my vehicle. I have a mentally challenged daughter and we don't have great credit because of hospital bills. I need a car severely bad, just something to get us there and back. I hope that somebody can call me and let me know if they could maybe help me with a car where I won't have to have a big payment. I will call myself Ann and I live close to the Sikeston area. My phone number is 573-380-6821. I have a mentally challenged daughter and my car is unfixable. I would like to know if someone would have a car or small truck. I feel there is somebody out there that would be able to help us. We can't even go to church. We can't go to the doctor or stores.
