The New Madrid Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual awards banquet and silent auction on Tuesday, March 18, at 6 pm. This year's theme is "We See Success In Your Future." You are invited to join them in honoring this year's award recipients. The Business of the Year Award will be presented to El Bracero Mexican Restaurant. Their New Madrid location has been very successful and their community pride shows in their food and customer service. Higgerson School Historic Site will received the 2014 Tourism Award. The addition of the Higgerson Landing Gift Shop and Museum and Pink's Ice Cream Parlor make it a must see destination for those visiting New Madrid. The Educator of the Year Award will go to Martha Mainord, the resource teacher at New Madrid Elementary. Ms. Mainord was nominated by her fellow educators for her professional yet caring methods of teaching. Dr. and Mrs. Pattaropong will be receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award for their many years of service and dedication to New Madrid and its residents. Dr. Patt, as most know him, has not only served those who have visited his clinic for the past 40 years, but also cared for and treated the residents of the Golden Living Center on a nearly daily basis.

The guest speaker for the evening will be Three Rivers College President, Dr. Devin Stephenson. The banquet will be held at Rebecca Sharp's and will begin at 6 p.m. A silent auction will be held in conjunction with the banquet. A few of the many items featured in this year's auction include a one-year family pass to Lazy L. Safari Park, a week of advertising on KTMO-FM, a three-month gym membership to the SEMO Health Network's Wellness Center, a family photo session from Julie Kolwyck Photography, $500 in advertising from B 97.9, a two-night stay at Tan-Tar-A Resort and much more.Tickets are $15.00 per person and can be purchased from the Chamber of Commerce office or call (573) 748-5300 to make your reservations.
