Public voices opinions at special meeting

SIKESTON -- Multiple teachers, parents, community members and a high school student provided their opinions on the implementation of a 1:1 initiative at Sikeston Junior High School during the Board of Education's special meeting Wednesday.

Among those were Penny Hahs, Junior High honors algebra teacher,

"I am a person who has been teaching since 1969," Hahs told the Board. "I am phasing myself out. I'm talking (tonight) because the Junior High needs this technology."

Hahs recalled how in 1980 when she started working at Lee Hunter, the science textbooks were from 1954.
