Approximately a year ago, the Bank of New Madrid approached the Portageville School District and asked if they would be interested in participating in the My School Card Program. This program allowed the school to partner with the bank to offer a co-branded Visa check/debit card to its customers. The bank was very excited about this new program and even more so when Portageville agreed to join them in the adventure. Now, all they needed was customer support to make the program a huge success. When customers use their debit card as a credit transaction for purchases $10.00 and greater, the bank makes a $0.05 donation toward the school district. Working together, the school, the bank and its customers exceeded expectations over the last year allowing the Bank of New Madrid to present a check in the amount of $866.80 to the Portageville School District. Bank of New Madrid also offers a New Madrid County Eagle card for those wishing to provide support to the New Madrid school.
There are no restrictions or terms to the use of these funds for the districts - they may use the money as they deem necessary. "With funding cutbacks for school finances, this is an excellent way for our bank customers to show support of their schools and the bank to provide some appreciated funds to be used in the districts. We're pleased to present this to Portageville and look for a greater amount of contribution next year", says Marie M. Gil, Branch Manager.
The bank also supports the Portageville and New Madrid County schools with its popular Bulldog Alert and Eagle Alert text notification system that alerts students, parents and school supporters of school calendar events, cancellations, and other reminders. Plus, the bank is involved in annual scholarship awards, club sponsorships, donations, and much more.
