After a decade in business Shakers in Kennett is closing next weekend. "It's been ten years, and I'm older now. I'm a little burned out, not on the bar business, but it's a lot of bar to be dealing with," said Kyle Stone.

"I've met a lot of great people. I've seen a lot of divorces, and I've seen a lot of marriages. We've had a lot of love connections," he added.

Stone likely is not done with the bar business. He expects to come back on a smaller scale and is grateful for Shakers' decade run.

"Ten years is a really long time for a bar. Life expectancy is about five years. I think I've done well. I'm proud that we've been open for ten years. I love all my employees and my customers, and I'm going out without a bar putting me out of business."

Shakers is going out with a bang. On June 28, an up and coming hip hop artist, Dusty Leigh, will perform. The independent artist is making some serious noise.

One of his biggest achievements came in early 2014 when his radio single "Nasty Girl" came in at number two on the Billboard Charts Hot Singles Sales chart.

There will be drink specials and giveaways. Donations will be taken to help James "Jimbo" Kulin, whose mother passed away recently,, with funeral expenses.

Shakers is closing, but Stone is busy, recently becoming manager of Caruthersville Country Club. "Tommy Pritchett retired, and they called me and offered me the job. It's going well over there. It's a lot slower pace," he said.
