NEW MADRID -- Two New Madrid County inmates are facing additional charges in connection with an attack on a fellow inmate.
Rasheik A.Harris and Daniel M. Hamilton are charged assault and armed criminal action in connection with the attack on Larry Lyons. The two were charged following an attack June 21 at the jail.
According to the probable cause statement signed by New Madrid County Deputy Kenneth Dalton, he was dispatched to the jail following a report of an assault on June 21 at the jail. At the scene, Dalton reported he observed several red whelps and bumps on the body and head of Lyons.
Lyons reportedly told the deputy he was attacked after coming out of the shower. Lyons stated he "was hit with a broom handle across the back, right ribs and back of the head causing him severe pain and swelling," according to the probable cause statement.
