Public Service Commission holds hearing tonight

JEFFERSON CITY--The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold a local public hearing at 6 p.m. Monday at the Clinton Building, 501 Campanella Drive in Sikeston, in a natural gas rate case filed by Liberty Utilities (Midstates Natural Gas) Corp.

There will be a PSC staff public information/question and answer session, with the taking of sworn statements to follow.

On Feb. 6, Liberty Utilities filed a natural gas rate case with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking a general rate increase of approximately $6.3 million. According to the company's filing, the impact of the rate request on a typical residential customer in southeast Missouri would be about $6.40 monthly.

Liberty Utilities (formerly Atmos Energy Corporation) serves approximately 56,000 natural gas customers in Missouri. The Southeast Missouri service area includes the counties of Butler, Cape Girardeau, Dunklin, Iron, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Ripley, Scott, Stoddard and Wayne.
