Sikeston employees of the third quarter

The City of Sikeston recently honored the Employees of the Quarter for the third quarter.

Detective John Blakely, pictured left, was recently honored as the Department of Public Safety's Employee of the Third Quarter. In presenting the award, Mayor Jerry Pullen, pictured right, said Blakely, who has been with the city since 1996, is an advocate for battered and abused children and adults and is one of the first of a team of professionals contacted when sexual abuse is reported. Blakely's genuine compassion for these individuals is reflected in his interaction with victims as they undergo interviews and medical screenings, Pullen said, and with a solid working relationship with the Missouri Children's Division, Juvenile Office, Beacon Health Center and prosecutors' offices, keeps cases moving to their conclusion.
