A train was used to cut a ceremonial ribbon recently for the grand opening of three new railroad tracks at the Southeast Missouri Regional Port Authority in Scott City. Officials from the Delta Regional Authority, Missouri Department of Transportation and Semo Milling rode the train and attended the ceremony as well as members of the Scott County Commission. The three new train tracks on the north side of the mill will be used to transport corn flour to more than 300 customers in the United States. Dan Fetherston, commercial manager of Semo Milling, said the tracks' opening will increase storage load-out capabilities by 10 percent to 15 percent. The tracks added were numbers five, six and eight, leaving a space for where track seven soon will begin construction.
