CARUTHERSVILLE - A driver's day went from bad to worse following a traffic stop early Tuesday.

At 12:52 a.m. Tuesday, Caruthersville Police officers stopped a vehicle on South Ward Avenue. During the traffic stop, officers arrested the 32-year-old driver on an active Pemiscot County warrant for passing bad checks.

According to Caruthersville City Marshal Tony Jones, officers then obtained permission to search the woman's purse where they found two items containing a white power residue that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Officers were given permission to search the vehicle from the driver and found a bag inside which contained a glass pipe with a thick white powder residue which also tested positive for methamphetamine, Jones said in a news release.
