Something is wrong in Washington, D.C.
Wednesday, August 6, 2014
The Republican weekly radio address this week summed up the prevailing national attitude in one short phrase - Something is wrong in Washington.
Now the liberals are anxious to label the problem as a resistant GOP House, unwilling to embrace the Obama agenda.
But that silly argument falls flat with even a cursory examination of the facts.
The problem clearly is an administration that has an agenda that runs counter to the will and wishes of the majority of Americans.
But understanding the reasons for this leftist drift is simple compared to the solution.
President Obama has always been a socialist in liberal clothing. In a true twist of irony, it is the freedoms of this great nation that allows Obama and his kind to hold this position.
You know something is wrong in Washington when this administration increasingly criticizes Israel for defending its borders when the American public condemns Hamas for their violent actions.
You know something is wrong in Washington when this administration promotes the flood of illegal immigrants when the American public has the common sense to see the impending financial and social issues just around the corner.
You know something is wrong in Washington when the IRS targets "enemies" of this administration and is shielded from prosecution by the Department of Justice.
You know something is wrong in Washington when this administration cowers to Russian aggression and leaves our allies hanging in the wind.
The problem is much more complex than differing political positions. The problem is a different set of core values that puts the power in a central government at the cost of freedoms and security for all Americans.
The liberals holding America hostage and their patsies in the national media always seek to divert your attention from the real problem by claiming "racism" - which is a weak and tired argument. Or, they cry tears of "impeachment" when only the elected Democrats are making this false argument. Or, they claim a lack of "compassion" from those who seek to control our southern borders.
There is so much wrong in Washington that we tend to forget Obamacare, which has yet to deliver on one single promise.
Last week, the Border Patrol was involved in a massive gun battle with Mexican drug cartel members and recovered two guns from the Eric Holder-inspired Fast and Furious program. But we've almost forgotten that fiasco.
Yes, there is indeed something wrong in Washington. Because of a variety of reasons, we made a national mistake in 2008 and repeated that same mistake four years later.
The upcoming November elections will hopefully help to correct or control that mistake for two more years.
And, if we are to learn anything from this mistake it is that the highest office in this land is far too important to hand over to an inexperienced community organizer whose radical views threaten the very fabric of this great nation.
