SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Library should see new long-awaited new growth in place by the end of spring next year.

The Sikeston Library Board of Trustees awarded the bid for renovation construction to expand the library to Zoellner Construction Company of Perryville during their regular monthly meeting Monday.

Zoellner Construction's offered the low bid at $542,000.

"We were very pleased," Bob Depro, the City Council representative on the Library Board, said of the winning bid. "It came in under the estimated cost and that is always key: getting it below the projected cost."

The other bid was from Sides Construction Company of Cape Girardeau.
