BENTON -- Even a couple of hours of severe weather can mean a couple of days of recovery work.

Norman Brant, highway superintendent for Scott County, advised the County Commission during their regular meeting Tuesday that the county highway department's cleanup efforts, which started Monday morning, should be complete by the end of the day.

"We had some localized flooding due to localized heavy rain Saturday night. We probably had two-and-a-half inches of rain in less than an hour," Jamie Burger, presiding county commissioner, said. "So we are in the process of getting that stuff cleaned up and back into shape."
