STE. GENEVIEVE -- The Dexter Bearcats lost a heartbreaker to Ste. Genevieve 27-21 on the road Friday night.

The Bearcats led 21-19 late into the fourth quarter, but Ste. Genevieve quarterback Wyatt Lalumondier tossed a 47-yard touchdown pass to Dalton Giesler with 1:59 remaining. The Dragons then converted the two-point conversion to take a 27-21 lead.

On the ensuing kickoff, the Bearcats were unable to handle the squib kick and the Dragons recovered and took over in Dexter territory. The Bearcats held the Dragons and got the ball back with 24 seconds remaining on their own 25.

Dexter then provided a little excitement as quarterback Peyton Pollock connected with receiver Jason Jarrell on what looked to be a 75-yard touchdown pass. But Pollock was flagged for being past the line of scrimmage when he threw the pass and the Bearcats were unable to score on the following play.

Pollock had a big night for the Bearcats, rushing for a team-high 86 yards on 19 carries. He also completed 16 of 27 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns. Carson Dean had 42 yards on 10 rushes while Ethan Stevens caught seven passes for 74 yards and two touchdowns.
