ESSEX -- The Richland volleyball team won it's first game of the season Tuesday downing visiting Twin Rivers in straight sets.

Richland (1-0) won the first game 25-9 and held off Twin Rivers 25-23 in the second set.

The Lady Rebels will host Bell City at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

__Dexter 2, Kennett 0__

KENNETT -- The Dexter varsity and junior varsity volleyball programs both secures their first wins of the season Tuesday night.

The Dexter varsity volleyball team beat Kennett 25-11, 25-15.

The Dexter junior varsity beat Kennett 25-7, 25-5.

Dexter (1-1) returns to action Thursday when it visits Jackson.

__Dexter 9, Charleston 0__

DEXTER -- The Dexter varsity girls tennis team cruised past Charleston 9-0 Tuesday afternoon.

Mary Miller beat Frederica Evans 8-0 in the No. 1 singles match, Macy Urhahn beat Cameron Wince 8-0 in the No. 2 singles match, Alexis May beat Savannah Wilkerson 8-1 in the No. 3 singles match, Destiny Robertson beat Shantaria Bigham 8-0 in the No. 4 singles match, Kalee Howard beat Deshaundria Kimble 8-0 in the No. 5 singles match and Monica Bryant beat Reagan Miller 8-1 in the No. 6 singles match.

"I was surprised with how jittery we were," Dexter coach Kurt Lovelady said. "We had a lot of people playing varsity for the first time today so jitters are to be expected."

In doubles action Urhahn-May beat Evans-Wince 8-5, Robertson-Destiny beat Wilkerson-Bigham 8-0 and Miller-Sells beat Kimble-Bryant 8-0.
