CHARLESTON -- Mississippi County's main two buildings can look forward to a bright future at a lower cost.

County Commissioners accepted during their regular weekly meeting Thursday a proposal from Rob Kavaliauskas, LED sales manager for Hi-Tech Communications in Sikeston, to install LED lighting at the Mississippi County Detention Center and Courthouse.

Presiding Commissioner Carlin Bennett said Kavaliauskas did a presentation for the Detention Center for Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore which commissioners attended last week.

"It looked so good to us that we asked them to come take a look at the courthouse as well," Bennett said.

Rather than doing a replacement of all lights, Kavaliauskas offered a "best return" proposal which will replace conventional bulbs in all daily or frequently used lighting at both the Courthouse and Detention Center with LEDs.
