Tiffany throws no-hitter as Portageville defeats Neelyville 5-0 for Tournament title

Saturday was a day Taylor Tiffany will remember forever as Tiffany threw a no-hitter in Portageville Lady Dawgs 's 5-0 victory over Neelyville. She helped lead the Lady Dawgs to a First Place win in the Lady Devils Classic in Chaffee.

No Neelyville batter was able to locate Tiffany's pitches during the game. She threw a no-hitter, striking out 17 batters and walking one while recording her momentous feat.

Savannah Lovins went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for Portageville Lady Dawgs. She singled in the second, fourth, and fifth inning

The game's last lead went to Portageville Lady Dawgs thanks to a first inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on a sacrifice fly by Tiffany.

Portageville Lady Dawgs added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth. A single by Shelby Rone ignited the offense, scoring Destiney Crossno. That was followed up by Kelsi Miller's double, bringing home Hanna Cook and Rone.

In getting to the championship bracket, they defeated two other teams, Sikeston and Puxico.

Again, Tiffany carried the Portageville Lady Dawgs to a 4-0 win in seven innings over Sikeston thanks to 16 strikeouts. She tossed seven innings of shutout ball and allowed only two hits.

Jill Kellams was solid at the plate for Portageville and went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. She doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth inning.

The dawgs went up for good in the second, scoring one run on an RBI double by Kellams.

With Puxico, it took two Portageville pitchers to team up for no-hitter in 9-0 victory.

They combined to throw a no-hitter in a 9-0 victory in six innings. Taylor Tiffany and Kelsi Miller tallied nine strikeouts and walked two in completing the no-no.

Puxico couldn't get anything going so long as Tiffany was on the hill. Tiffany held Puxico hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.

Six runs in the opening three innings allowed Portageville to easily put away Puxico. A groundout by Mikayla Rone and an RBI single by Hanna Cook during the second inning supplied the early offense for Portageville Lady Dawgs .

Tiffany put herself in scoring position with three extra-base hits, and tripled in the second inning, doubled in the third and fifth innings, and singled in the sixth inning.

Miller got the win in relief for Portageville. Miller pitched five innings and allowed no runs.

Tiffany, Shelby Rone, Cook and Alexis Glidewell combined for 11 hits and six RBIs.

Portageville piled on four more runs in the bottom of the third. The inning looked promising, as Glidewell singled, bringing home Miller to kick things off. That was followed up by Tiffany's double, scoring Glidewell.

Portageville Lady Dawgs increased its lead with three runs in the sixth. Jalen Walls kicked things off with a single, bringing home Cook and Savannah Lovins. That was followed up by Walls' single, plating Cook and Lovins.

The Lady Dawgs went on the road Tuesday to Neelyville and lost, 5-4. On Thursday, today, they travel to Kelly. They will finish up the week in the Jackson Invitational Tournament.
