Sikeston eighth grade football team finishes undefeated season

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston eighth grade football team finished its season with an undefeated 6-0 record after a 46-21 win over visiting Jackson Monday.

Sikeston's Elijah Faulkner got the night started with a 47-yard touchdown run on their first offensive snap. Kevin Jones added a 31-yard run to make it 12-0 and quarterback Nate Self threw an 11-yard scoring pass to Aaron Allen in the second quarter for an 18-0 lead.

Allen caught his second touchdown pass with 32 seconds left in the half from 43 yards out. Sean Blanchfield ran in the 2-point conversion for a 26-0 halftime lead.

Jones made it 32-0 in the third quarter after a 45-yard run.

Jackson got on the board after a touchdown reception by Matt Jaco shortly after. Jackson quarterback Desmond Jackson ran in the Indians' second touchdown run with a 7-yard scamper. His 2-point pass to Layton Gohn made it 32-15 with 7:25 left in the fourth.

Jones scored his third and fourth touchdowns after a 43-yard run and an 85-yard run to give Sikeston a 46-15 lead.

Jackson added his second touchdown run with three seconds left to make up the final.

The eighth grade football team also went undefeated last season as seventh graders bringing their two-year, junior high record to 12-0.
