SIKESTON -- Property tax bills will have a whole new look for many area residents.

"The receipts and statements are going to look completely different this year because I'm with a new software company," said Dewayne Nowlin, collector of revenue for New Madrid County. "It will be a full statement. They can tear off the bottom and send that in and keep the top part for their records."

As the company which had provided software and hardware maintenance on the county's mainframe computer shut down at the end of last year leaving it without support, Nowlin selected a billing product by DEVNET Incorporated.

"It's been a change," Nowlin said. "It's a lot of work any time you have a change in systems."

But even with a new system to adjust to, Nowlin's office has New Madrid County tax statements printed up and ready to be sent off.
