SIKESTON -- The Sikeston R-6 School District is mourning the loss of a 2014 Sikeston High School graduate who died over the weekend.

Prior to the start of the Sikeston R-6 Board of Education's regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Superintendent Tom Williams addressed the death of Martwan Hill.

"On behalf of the administration and also the school board, we want to offer our condolences to the Martwan Hill family," Williams said.

Hill, who served as the vice president of SHS' student body, was named to the all-state choir his senior year -- the first SHS student to accomplish the feat in more than a decade.

"He was a flamboyant young man -- a tremendous young man around campus," Williams said. "I personally had the opportunity to be with him through his freshman and sophomore years. He was just a tremendous young man, and he will be missed. We want to offer anything to the family we possibly can in their time of need."
