2014 Watermelon Grower's Meeting

On Wednesday, December 3, 2014 University of Missouri Extension is hosting the annual Watermelon Grower's Meeting starting at 8:30 a.m. at the American Legion Building in Kennett, MO. Donuts and coffee will be available for this event which will provide an opportunity for growers to talk with specialists in the areas of disease management, plastic culture and labor.

The morning promises to be educational starting with Debra Minish with Workforce Development who will be on hand to discuss local labor opportunities. She will be followed by Sam Atwell, Agronomy Specialist from the University of Missouri (UM) who will talk about plastic cover contamination; Sarah Denkler, Horticulture Specialist from UM who will discuss disease diagnosis; David Reinbott, Ag Business Specialist from UM who will discuss irrigation and Craig Stokes who will discuss the Perishable Agriculture Commodities Act (PACT).

This meeting is possible through the support of our local and regional industry sponsors including: Ken-Mo Ag, Mobley Greenhouse, Siegers Seed Co., Stokes Seed, Stokes Law Office, Syngentia Seeds, and TEVA Corporation. These companies will be on hand and available to discuss needs for the 2015 growing season.
