Morehouse man facing sex charges

MOREHOUSE - A Missouri man is facing charges after sending sex toys and nude photos to a Rhode Island teen.

Jayson Luther, 22, is in jail following his arrest for the felonies of sexual exploitation of a minor and enticement of a child, involving a person over 21 years of age and a child less than 15-years-old.

According a to Sheriff Terry Stevens, on Nov. 6, the Morehouse Police Department was contacted by the Smithfield, R.I., Police Department in regards to an investigation they were conducting which possibly involved a subject living in Morehouse. Smithfield detectives stated they believed Luther was having inappropriate online communications with a 14-girl in Smithfield.

"The investigation in Smithfield revealed Luther purchased adult toys for the 14-year-old and used an online video chat to view her using them," Stevens said in a news release. "The investigation also revealed Luther exchanged nude photographs with the female."

On Nov. 7, the Morehouse Police Department and the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department served a search warrant at Luther's residence. Two mobile devices seized during the search warrant were analyzed by Sheriff's Department investigators and a laptop was sent to the SEMO Cyber Crimes Task Force in Poplar Bluff for analysis.
