ESSEX -- Despite only graduating two seniors, the Richland Rebels remain a young group entering the upcoming season where they'll try to improve on last year's three-win campaign.

"We have a young bunch," Rebels' head coach Matt Cline said. "We're just kind of feeling things out. We're throwing a few new things on them and it's been going pretty good. It's been real competitive."

Richland returns Skyler Harper along with fellow starters Preston Tilley and Josh Thornton, both of whom are sophomores.

Senior Marcus Grayson spent part of last season with the Rebels and comes back as a likely starter while sophomores Devin Stoker and Garet Phillips are expected to contribute.

"We were starting three freshmen and now we're still probably one of the youngest teams around starting three sophomores," Kline said. "It was a tough year last season and we're just looking to keep moving forward. Every night we go out there we want to be a better basketball team than we were the day before."
