Six Bulldogs named to soccer all-conference team

SIKESTON -- Six Sikeston soccer players made the SEMO All-Conference list and two of those were named to the all-region team.

Sam Cox and Audie Hay both made the first team, Layton Jones and Connor Merideth were selected to the second team and honorable mention nods went to Hunter Taylor and Andrew Pearson.

On top of all-conference selections, both Cox and Hay each were named to the Class 3 SE/St. Louis all-region team.

Hay, Jones, Taylor, Adam Johnson, Cody Rodgers, Chase Gaines and Clark Atchison are Sikeston's departing seniors from its 12-11-1 finish.

"They've all been playing together their whole lives and will be greatly missed for their leadership on and off the field," Sikeston head coach Gabe Dement said about his seniors. "We lose clutch scoring from Layton and Audie, clutch defending from Cody and Adam and two players who were willing to play wherever needed and help out in Chase and Clark. They definitely left their mark on the program and taught the underclassmen how to carry themselves with sportsmanship and play with passion on the field."
