SIKESTON -- The Sikeston R-6 Board of Education was briefed by staff members Tuesday during its regular monthly meeting.

Anne Crader and Hailey Sullivan provided an annual update on the district's gifted program. Their goals are to continue developing continuity in gifted curriculum by outlining goals in English language arts and math concepts and problem solving for gifted objectives and aligning these objectives with Missouri Learning Standards.

"We're currently evaluating our program based on Terra Nova and MAP test scores, and we had 70 percent score advanced, 26 percent were proficient and 4 percent at basic in English language arts," Crader said.

One goal is for students to score at proficient or advanced, Crader said.

"In math, 71 percent scored at advance and 29 percent were proficient and we had none score at basic," Crader said.
