BROSELEY -- Shamyiah Stone scored 38 points as the No. 14 Malden Green Wave survived a Twin Rivers Lady Royals Christmas Classic consolation quarterfinal game that went to overtime against No. 6 Charleston, 65-63. Malden (4-2) struggled immensely from the free throw line but overcame it. The Green Wave had many chances to secure the win in the fourth quarter, but shot 4-for-18 from the line. They improved in overtime by going 8-for-14 but were 35 percent (17-for-49) overall in the game...

BROSELEY -- Shamyiah Stone scored 38 points as the No. 14 Malden Green Wave survived a Twin Rivers Lady Royals Christmas Classic consolation quarterfinal game that went to overtime against No. 6 Charleston, 65-63.

Malden (4-2) struggled immensely from the free throw line but overcame it. The Green Wave had many chances to secure the win in the fourth quarter, but shot 4-for-18 from the line. They improved in overtime by going 8-for-14 but were 35 percent (17-for-49) overall in the game.

Stone totaled 13 2-pointers while going 12-for-26 at the line.

Adrianna Merritt made two big buckets in the paint in overtime Malden's only two makes in the extra session.

Jada Criglar added eight points for Malden.

The loss was Charleston's second overtime defeat in the tournament after losing to Greenville in that fashion in the first round.

Charleston senior Sierra Frazier scored 26 points. She was 15-for-18 from the line and was 9-for-10 in the fourth quarter and overtime combined.

Cheyenne Randle also had 26 points, including 10 2-pointers made.

Clearwater 64, Senath-Hornersville 36 The Lady Tigers stayed alive after they trailed after the first quarter in a consolation quarterfinal game. After No. 15 Senath led 15-13 through the first quarter, it scored just nine points apiece the next two quarters and had just three in the final frame.

Lexi Morris totaled a game-high 35 points distributed fairly evenly each quarter. She was 11-for-13 from the line.

Konnor Johnston had 14 points with 10 points in the second half.

Chaffee 46, East Carter 20 The Lady Redbirds had just five field goals as they were eliminated by the No. 8 Lady Red Devils in the consolation quarterfinals.

East Carter (0-6) scored just seven points in the first half with only two in the second quarter.

Megan Mullins had a team-high 12 points for East Carter, including a pair of 3-pointers. Andrea Kearbey added four points.

Julia Sutterfield had 14 points to lead Chaffee while Kylie Wilhite had three 3-pointers and 11 total points.

Portageville 53, New Madrid Central 34 The Lady Bulldogs sent the Lady Eagles home with their second upset of the tournament in a consolation quarterfinal game.

New Madrid, seeded No. 5, fell short against Doniphan in the opening round.

Jill Kellams led Portageville with 18 points. Jacara Madison added eight points.

Portageville played Chaffee at 12 Noon Monday and lost, 43-53.
