Sikeston eighth graders defeat Clarkton, freshman fall to Jackson

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston eighth grade basketball team improved to 10-0 on the season with a 71-35 win over Clarkton on Monday at the Sikeston Junior High School.

Sikeston led 20-10 after one quarter and 37-19 at the half before putting the Reindeer away with an 18-3 run in the third quarter.

"Clarkton contacted us looking for a game and I'm very appreciative that they were able to add us to their schedule and make the trip to play us," Sikeston coach Derek James said.

Sikeston was led by Kevin Jones with 24 points to pace 10 different players that reached the scoring column for the Bulldogs.

Clark was led by Braiden Jones with 16 points.

Sikeston will next play at Jackson on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

JACKSON -- The Sikeston ninth grade basketball team fell to 3-3 on they year after a lopsided 68-36 loss to Jackson on the road Monday.

Austin Branch led Sikeston with 12 points. Don Larry scored eight and Jaquan Ray added six.

Sikeston's next game will be Wednesday at home against Dexter starting at 6 p.m.
