Top seeds roll in Scott-Mississippi County Tournament opening round
BENTON -- With 22 points from Julia Sutterfield, the top--seeded Chaffee Lady Devils downed eighth-seeded Scott City 64-29 on Monday in the opening round of the Scott-Mississippi County Tournament.
After taking a nine-point lead into the second quarter, Chaffee (10-2) out-scored the Lady Rams 21-5 in the final eight minutes of the first half to extend their lead to 25 points.
The Lady Devils went on to out-pace Scott City each of the final to quarters to hold on for the win.
Behind Sutterfield, Jordan Pruitt and Carliegh Burnett had 10 points each.
Anna Kern led the Lady Rams (0-10) with 11 points.
Chaffee will play fourth-seeded oran in the semifinals Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Kelly High School.

Kelly 53, East Prairie 25
BENTON -- The second-seeded Kelly Lady Hawks defeated seventh-seeded East Prairie 53-25 in the tournament opening round.
Kelly (8-4) outscored the Lady Eagles in all four quarters, including finishing the night with a 22 point fourth quarter.
Tessa Johnson led the Lady Hawks with a game-high 16 points while Kristi Brucker added 10 points to the cause.
For the Lady Eagles (1-9), Dakota Arnold finished with a team-high 12 points.
Kelly will play third-seeded Charleston Thursday at 7 p.m.in the semifinals at Kelly High School.

Charleston 63, Scott County Central 35
BENTON -- With a dominant start to the contest, third-seeded Charleston knocked off defending champion Scott County Central 63-35 Monday in the tournament opening round.
Charleston (8-2) came out to a 22-7 advantage after the first quarter before playing the sixth-seeded Bravettes (2-11) even in the second quarter.
By out-pacing Scott Central 27-9 in the third quarter the Lady Blue Jays took a comfortable 33-point lead going into the fourth.
Charleston's Cheyenne Randle led all comers with 19 points, followed by teammate Sierra Frazier with 16 points. Juwanna Walker added 15 points to the Lady Bluejays' cause.
Johneisha Davis led the Bravettes with 15 points.

BENTON -- Despite representing the fourth and fifth seeds, Oran and Delta participated in one of the bigger blow outs of the night with the Lady Eagles coming away with a 51-13 opening round win.
The Lady Eagles (8-2), seeded fourth, held the fifth-seeded Lady Bobcats (3-8) to single digit scoring all four quarters. This included taking a 14-2 lead after the first quarter and building it to 31-6 advantage going into halftime.
In outscoring Delta 16-6 in the third quarter Oran ensured a turbo-clocked finish.
Allie Cummins' 14 points led the Lady Eagles while Brianna Stause and Ashlyn McIntosh added 13 and 10 points respectively.
