R-6 Board receives grant update
SIKESTON -- A grant update for the current school year was provided during Tuesday's regular meeting of the Sikeston R-6 School Board.
Chad King, director of Sikeston Career and Technology Center, along with Lynn Crader, assistant superintendent for elementary/special services, provided information on this school year's grants.
The following grants were awarded this year: Title I-A in the amount of $1,236,704 to provide supplemental instruction in the areas of English Language Arts and Math; Title II-A in the amount of $238,907 for support staff development in the core teaching areas; Title VI-B for $61,436 to provide a continuing source of innovations and education improvement for all students, including at-risk youth; and Perkins, $201,879 to increase the quality of technical education within the United States in order to help the economy.
