Rone Sworn In as new State Representative

Don Rone of Portageville was officially sworn into the House of Representatives, 149th District, last Wednesday.

Jefferson City -- At noon on Wednesday, January 7, Don Rone was sworn in to represent the 149th District in the 98th Session of the Missouri State Legislature. His wife Myra and many other family members traveled to Jefferson City to attend the ceremony at the State Capitol.

After the first day of session was adjourned, he and his wife, Myra, joined other representatives and senators from across the state for the grand march to kick off the 2015 Inaugural Ball.

"I felt so blessed to have my children and grandchildren, brother and sister, and of course, my wife Myra, here as I started my work as a state representative," Rone said. "It was a day full of activities, but I'm really looking forward to getting to work for the people in the bootheel. That is my main focus."

Prior to the ceremony, Rone took his six grandchildren on a tour of the Capitol building and the state museum. From left are Mikayla Rone, Shelby Rone, Reese and Phoebe Rone, daughters of Trey and Valerie Rone. and in front, Rep. Rone, and Grace and Bryce Rone, children of Kevin and Trisha Rone, all of Portageville.

The 149th District includes all of New Madrid county and portions of Pemiscot, Mississippi, and Scott counties.
