PUXICO -- A Puxico teen died around midnight Friday after he apparently stepped on a

live electrical line following a motor-vehicle crash on Highway 51.

The teen is identified as Marcus Lauder, 19. He is a 2014 graduate of Puxico High School, where he

played varsity basketball.

A 911 call reporting the accident involving Lauder went to the Stoddard County 911 Center at Dexter, Mo.

Stoddard County authorities then contacted the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 11:57 p.m. reporting the non-injury accident, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. Clark Parrott, Troop E's public information

officer.

"It was (near Highway) 51 and (Highway) T, in front of the Puxico skating rink," and involved a 2002 Chevrolet

Trailblazer, Parrott said.

Arriving prior to the responding trooper, Parrott said, were member of Puxico Fire Department.

Firefighters, Parrott said, found Lauder laying in the road.

"(Lauder) hit a utility pole (which) apparently had an electric line on it," Parrott said. "He exited his vehicle

and apparently stepped on the live wire and got electrocuted."

Lauder, Parrott said, died as a result of the electrocution not the traffic crash.
