CHARLESTON -- Police are investigating a shooting that injured three females Wednesday night in Charleston.

About 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, officers with the Charleston Department of Public Safety received a report of gunshots and a disturbance near the intersection of Vine and Sy Williams (Elm Street) in Charleston, according to Charleston DPS Director Robert Hearnes.

"Responding officers learned that three females -- two from Sikeston and one from Charleston -- had been shot," Hearnes said in a news release.

All victims were transported to an area medical facility with non-life threatening injuries, the chief said.
