Here is a look at the up coming Municipal election on Tuesday, April 7.

Portageville -

Incumbent Mayor Denis McCrate is being challenged by Ward Two Alderman Floyd Simmons. In Ward One, Jessie James, the incumbent, and Lynn Doering will campaign for the alderman's seat. Doering held that position several years ago.

Other filings include Joe DeLisle for re-election as Ward Two alderman, and Michele Crawford for City Collector.

On the Portageville School Board-

There will not be a school board election. Only two current board members are ending their term and chose not to re-file, Derek Samples and Donney Benthal. Filing to fill those two positions are Ronnie Adams Jr. and Ronnie Adams Sr.

At first, Jason Crites had filed for the school board, but on the last day of filing, he was promoted and transferred to the Jefferson city area. so, Ronnie Adams Sr. agreed to file in his place. By state law, when only two vacancies are open, and only two file, they are automatically in and no need to have an election.

However, the Portageville School Board will have a bond issue to bring before the voters.

The question being asked, is shall the Portageville School Board issue a general obligation bond in the amount of $1,800,000 for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, repairing, improving, extending, remodeling, renovating, furnishing and equipping new and existing school facilities?

With the bonds, a debt service tax levy in addition to the other taxes provided for by law on all taxable tangible property in the District sufficient to pay the interest and principal of the Bonds as they fall due. If this questions is approved. District'a debt service tax levy is estimate to remain at $0.75 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation.

New Madrid County Central

The New Madrid County R-1 School District will have two three-year terms, and one one-year term, that will become vacant in April. To date, filing for the two three-year terms are incumbents Jonthan Maloyed and Ralph Barnwell, Jr., as well as challengers Demetrius Moore and Scott Riley. Ryan Eddy has filed for the remaining one year of the unexpired term he was appointed to fill, following the resignation of Jason Redden during last school year.

Marston-

Voters will choose one from four candidates for the North Ward alderman. They are Joe Ross, Jeremy Ruby, Audra Cross and Katty Arnold.

Two have filed for the South Ward Alderman. They are Wayne Ruby and Gary Brown.

North Lilbourn-

In the Village of North Lilbourn, voters are to choose three trustees from a list of four candidates. They are Robert E. Robinson, John richard Hughes, Ernest McFerren, and Bertha Moore.

Lilbourn-

There is one race in Lilbourn in Ward 1. Incumbent Kevin Lyons is being challenged by Ronald G. Ivie. In Ward 2, Michael Roberts, incumbent, has not challenger.
