BENTON -- Scott County is again hosting a statewide training conference for county officials.

The Recorders Association of Missouri will hold their annual training conference next week at the Miner Convention Center in Miner.

"This is the first time that we've got to host it in our area," Tara Mason, Scott County recorder of deeds, said during Tuesday's County Commission meeting.

"We are very very excited to have the recorders' annual training meeting here," said Jamie Burger, presiding commissioner. "With the number of people it will bring to Scott County, the economic impact will be tremendous. And it will give Scott County an opportunity to showcase our county."

Mason said county recorders from the entire southeast district are helping to prepare for the event.

"We've had a really good team working together," she said. "Tuesday evening is registration and then it will run through Friday."

The conference will provide attending members with important and useful information, Mason said, "but I think we will have fun, too. We will show them what our area has to offer."
