FARMINGTON -- Sikeston's Gabe Wheeler shot a one-over par 73 to earn top medalist and helped his team to a first-place finish during the 15-team Festus Invitational at Crown Pointe Golf Club in Farmington Wednesday.

This is Wheeler's fourth tournament win so far this season and Sikeston's first team win overall. The Bulldogs took the team title by 11 strokes over second place Farmington with a total of 334. Wheeler's closest individual competitor was nine strokes away.

Sikeston's Blake Below scored an 83 to finish fourth overall while Clark Atchison carded an 86 for sixth.

Sikeston will host the SEMO Conference Tournament on Monday at Fox Haven Country Club with a tee time of 10 a.m.

SIKESTON -- Gavin Pobst pitched a complete game and struck out seven during Scott County Central's third win of the season.

The Braves (3-4) scored eight runs in the first two innings and led 10-2 after four. They out-hit Delta 10-3.

Scott Central will host Meadow Heights today at 4 p.m.

CLARKTON -- The Reindeer gave up six unearned runs on nine errors and were no-hit by state-ranked Cooter.

Cooter, ranked seventh in the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 2 poll, led 7-0 after three innings and poured on six runs in the top of the sixth.

Clarkton pitcher Cody Lott gave up three earned runs and struck out four in six innings of work.
