CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Picking their second district win in less than a week, Sikeston dominated host Cape Central 8-1 on Tuesday.

"Today's win at Cape was important for us concerning our upcoming team districts," Bulldog head coach Russ Dial said. "The victory gave us our third district win, which should get us a high seed for team districts. Everyone played well today knowing we need to finish the regular season strong."

Layton Jones and Mark Jones each earned wins in singles competition as did Brett Johnson, Edward McClain and Jordan Wheatley.

Sikeston swept the three doubles matchups with the duo of Layton Jones and Johnson winning 8-2 and Mark Jones and Coby McMikle winning 8-6. McClain and Wheatley claimed an 8-3 decision to finish the sweep.

The Bulldogs lost the junior varsity meeting 4-1 with Anthony Le picking up the lone win.

Sikeston host Dexter tomorrow at 4 p.m.

ADVANCE -- With back-to-back six run rallies, Advance defeated visiting New Madrid County Central 7-5 on Tuesday.

A three-run rally in the bottom of the fourth gave the Lady Hornets a 4-1 advantage and another three-run outburst in the fifth made it 7-2.

The Lady Eagles scored three runs in their final two plate appearances to close back within two runs, but couldn't complete the comeback.

The win leaves Advance at 14-3 and NMCC at 8-5.

PERRYVILLE -- St. Vincent defeated East Prairie 5-1 on Tuesday.

Ties 1-1 going into the bottom of the third inning, St. Vincent scored the go-ahead run before putting another three runs on the board in the fourth.

Mack Marcum led the Eagles with a 2 for 3 effort that included a double.

__Advance 18, Richland 0__

ESSEX -- The Advance Hornets calculated a season-high 18 runs on its way to an 18-0 five-inning road win against the Richland Rebels Tuesday afternoon.

Advance led 3-0 after two innings before opening up a more comfortable lead when it plated 11 runs in the top of the third inning.

Six Advance hitters recorded multiple hits.

Richland had a hitter reach base every inning it batted, but was unable to push a run across home plate.

The Rebels' best scoring chance came in the bottom of fifth inning when it loaded the bases with nobody out. Advance escaped the jam untouched when Nicholas Azure hit a line drive to second base that was caught and the infielder stepped on second base and threw first base before the runners returned to their respective bags for a game-ending triple play.

Seger earned the victory for Advance. He allowed four hits, struck out five and walked one in four innings of work.
