Little 'trikers' learn big lesson in helping others
EAST PRAIRIE - "Trikers" at R.A. Doyle Elementary School are learning at a very young age how to help others in need.
The school just recently conducted the third annual trike-a-thon for St Jude Research Hospital raising $7,006 to help fight childhood cancer.
During the event they honored their own survivors, Pyper Rendon, Savannah Smith, Hutsen Cade and Reagann Duenne, who attend Doyle Elementary and honored the memory of David Morgan and Michael Paul Shands.
Recently the students received a letter from St Jude letting them know that their trike-a -thon last year was No. 34 of the top 100 fundraisers. The full list of the top 100 is available on the St Jude Web site at www.stjude.org/trike100.
The past three trike-a-thons have raised over $20,000 for St Jude Hospital. The four survivors who attend Doyle Elementary school led the event.
