SIKESTON -- For almost 15 years, Mike Rentals Inc., has supplied the area with equipment and tools and their selection continues to grow with the addition of Grasshopper mowers.

"Grasshopper is one of the oldest lawnmower companies out there," said Mike McReynolds, who owns Mike Rentals with his wife Cindie. "They are built in Kansas and we like the fact that they are American made."

"We felt like (Grasshopper) would compliment our rental business because we try to only have the top quality equipment," said Cindie McReynolds.

Grasshopper has been making lawnmowers since 1969 and they make strictly commercial mowers, something the McReynolds were searching for.

"We wanted a first-class line of lawnmowers and that is the number one reason we went into it," Mike McReynolds said. "We rent them and we sell them."

They will also service what they sell and financing is available through Grasshopper.

"We are actively trying to build our parts inventory," Mike McReynolds added. "We can get parts fairly quickly if we don't have them here. I'm really surprised with the number of calls we have had for parts."

He said they did sell parts for two mowers from the 1990s.

"That to us speaks to the longevity of the equipment and the availability of parts for those older models," Cindie McReynolds said. "That impressed me with us being new into that line that people can still get the parts they need for service. It is not a fly-by-night company by any means."

Currently Mike Rentals has inventory in stock with several engine options available and they also have a demo model available to try out for those who are interested.

Anyone with questions about the Grasshopper lawnmowers can call (573) 472-7907 and ask for Mike or James or visit the business, located at 109 Larcel Drive. Store hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
